Deck the Yard

It is Christmas time again. The decorations are going up around the neighborhood:

Xmas Lights 1

Not too bad. Somewhat tasteful, understated…ok, I’m ok with it. On the other end of the spectrum:

Xmas Lights 2
(click for full-size)

That…is a little much. Upside? I don’t have to turn on any exterior lights for the next month or so. Downside? Well there are several. #1, it is hideously ugly. #2, every car that passes by has to come to a stop in order to gawk. #3, there is the constant hum of the fans that keep all of those inflatable monstrosities afloat.

I can’t wait for the new year. I just hope that these neighbors aren’t the type to leave that stuff up until March.

Nothin’

I got nothin’ right now. Sorry.

I’m headed to Mom’s for ThanksChristmas tomorrow, then spending Thanksgiving morning crawling around in the attic tracing down coax wires, and finally coming home Thursday night after dinner. That’ll be fun. If mom doesn’t have coffee in the house, I’ll have something to write about on Friday for sure.

Decision 2006

Is it worth $35 to see Twisted Sister? Normally, I would say no. But what if it was Twisted Sister singing…

Christmas songs?!? I just don’t know what to think about the whole thing, but I have the gnawing feeling that I will never forgive myself if I let this opportunity slip by. Thoughts?

Listening: Stefy

I don’t know if it is just this song that I love, or if the whole CD is great…but I’m digging on Stefy right now.

Chelsea:

Plus, they just seem like nice kids:

Anyone heard the whole CD and have a review? I’ve only heard what they have up on their MySpace page. C’mon Angry Army, give me a report!

Commenting / Offending

I’m going to make a general announcement now. Ahem.

The comment section is for commenting. I don’t censor anything, and the only reason I moderate is to keep out the spam. Believe me, you do not want to see the number or male potency comments I delete on a daily basis. Say what you want, as loud as you want. Just don’t ask me if it is OK. Because it is all OK by me. I fully support a rant no matter how wrong or stupid I might find it. Everyone has to self-police themselves. If you don’t want to offend, then be careful what you write. If you do want to offend, then offend away. Curse, swear, make personal attacks–I don’t care. Not my job to be the thought police.

Carry on.

Uncomfortable

I’ve always been a bit uncomfortable with voting in a church or church gym or church school. That never made much sense to me, and frankly offends my “keep your church out of my State” sensibilities. The point really hit home as I stepped into the gym to vote today, and was immediately greeted by a 40 foot red banner saying:

It’s not about you
It’s not about me
It’s about JESUS

Loverly. I find it disturbing that barriers set up at 100 feet inform campaigners to stay out, but it is OK to have a giant religious reminder hanging over my head as I vote. OK, I don’t find it disturbing. I find that it pisses me right off. Especially considering that we Tennesseans are voting on Amendment 1, to make sure that those damn dirty homos don’t ruin marriage for the straight folk (they are ruining it just fine all by themselves.) Granted, a stupid banner probably isn’t going to make someone change their mind about gay marriage at this point, but I still think it is unseemly.

Is it too much to ask that we vote in a public school or library or courthouse or something?

Yeah…That’s the Ticket

All Ted Haggard wanted was a massage and some meth. That’s all, nothing more. He didn’t even use the meth anyway, he threw it out. Jeez. And now all of those mean people are saying such terrible things about him. Tsk tsk tsk. I believe you Ted. I mean really, whoever hasn’t hired a male escort to give them a massage and sell them drugs, let them cast the first stone.

Oh hey! That’s a nice sharp pointy one laying on the ground over there…
